Cerebral Palsy are two words that parents don't want to hear. It is a set of disorders involving brain and nervous system functions such as movement, hearing, seeing and thinking. It is a disability resulting from injury to the brain before, during or shortly after birth.

For one family, however, they found that stem-cell treatment (disclaimer: client link) has provided a glimmer of hope.

Seven-year-old Ethan Radtke underwent expensive stem-cell treatment in Germany and as a result, has allowed him to recently walk for the first time in his life.

According to INFORUM, Ethan underwent stem-cell therapy in July 2010 at the Xcell-Center in Dusseldorf, Germany that collected stem cells from his bone marrow and injected it into his spinal fluid to help injured cells heal. Funding for the procedure, which topped $20,000, was gathered through donations from the West Fargo community he and his family live in.

When it comes to CP, there are different types. The infographic below explains the different as well as some of the causes, warning signs and symptoms. Additionally, infographic also depicts what effect cerebral palsy could have on a child’s life.
