Earning the Kind of Money You’re Worth
Are you having a tough time accepting the level of pay you currently earn? Do you believe that with your talents, skills and hard work, you should be paid more at your current job?
Bestselling author, Brian Tracy, has written a new book, Earn What You’re Really Worth (Vanguard Press, 2012). He describes it as “the bible of career advancement.”
The book is filled with strategies, techniques, tips and steps to getting your earning potential on track. If you’ve never read a Brian Tracy book, this is a good book to start with because it will introduce you to many applicable, real-life theories such as the 80/20 rule. If you have read Tracy’s books before, much of the information may feel like you’ve read it before.
The author starts off telling readers the only person that you are the only one that has control over your earning potential. He writes, “Whatever you are earning today, you have decided to earn that amount.”
He goes on to define today’s professional normal. “The definition of normal has changed. From this day forward, if you want to succeed and achieve everything that is possible for you, you’re going to have to work smarter and more diligently than ever before.”
According to the book, the new rules for success include promotion, affluence and achievement. Tracy takes the reader through creating personal and professional mission and vision statements based on your own core values. He also tackles the seven Rs of personal management, seven KRAs (Key Result Areas) of sales and management, three rules of mental cross-training, four keys to strategic marketing, three Cs to getting a job, seven steps to obtaining goals, four mental qualities, three deep needs, seven essential principles of relationships, and the two keys to success.
As with other Tracy books, this book is well written offering real-world solutions to real-life problems. It’s worth the read and even if you just try at least one of the ideas he presents, the book is worth the investment.
