Most Americans are sleep (and nutrient) deprived… it’s just a part of the daily hustle and bustle of daily life. We work long days and usually spend time “unwinding” afterwork, which typically involves watching television and eating junk food. Every now and then we get the urge to start a new diet, join the gym, compare the top workout routines, or buy that latest workout DVD promising us six-pack abs in a few short weeks, but the initial motivation doesn’t last. As if that weren’t bad enough, those of us that do stick to a workout plan are still bogged down by the pressure and stress of daily life.
For that very reason, it’s so important to give yourself any edge you can. One simple thing you can do to get your life and your health on track is to set the alarm clock a little earlier and simply workout in the morning after you wake up. The reason is that after you wake up, your body produces large amounts of horomones which induce alertness and euphoria. These hormones make you feel energetic and focused, allowing you to concentrate on being productive throughout the day. In fact, the morning is such a beneficial time, many Montessori schools use that time to teach kids because they will retain the information easier. So if you still need convincing to wake up earlier in the morning, here are the five best reasons to workout in the morning:
1). Fat Killer: Morning activity is a proven fat killer. Scientists and Harvard University found that the carbohydrate reserves in muscles are nearly empty in the morning, causing the body to take the necessary fuel from stored fat reserves. So basically, your body is in mini-starvation mode and quickly searches for fat to fuel itself.
