Food Stamps for Fast Food? - Page 2
The founder of Louisville’s African American Think Thank, Rev. Gerome Sutton, stated "The fast-food restaurants are signing up so it would be injurious to the health and well-being of our community." This proposal would not be so bad if it had healthy revisions made. WIC, another government assistance program for women infants and children, supplies vouchers for groceries that are healthy, such as white milk, beans, fruits, vegetables, and whole wheat bread. These Yum! Brand restaurants do have some health conscience items, like Taco Bell’s Fresco Style menu, KFC’s grilled chicken, and Pizza Hut’s Thin N’ Crispy pizza. These should be the only options when ordering out, and desserts and buffets should be excluded.
I don’t believe there are any states in this country who strive to become the state with the highest number of people who starve, and when you have the resources to help those with limited funds to purchase food, a state should be alerted when they are on their way to become the fattest state with the allowance of food stamps in fast food restaurants. This proposal should be a carefully drawn out plan with assistance from the food representative of Taco Bell, KFC and Pizza Hut. The gates can’t be lifted and the horses are running wild, they must be tamed. The plan must be tamed, or else Mississippi will lose its title of the fattest state in America, replaced by Kentucky.
