Gene Simmons Getting Married? Really?

On Friday, Sept 2, the official wedding invitations went out for the marriage of Kiss frontman, Gene Simmons and his long-time partner and mother of his grown children, Shannon Tweed. Why is this news? Well, the two of them have been living together for 28 years and the premise of their reality show "Gene Simmons: Family Jewels" centered around the theory of being "happily unmarried". Gene Simmons is known for his tremendous ego and blatant claims of bedding 4000+ women. Why the sudden change of heart? Well, let's take a moment to look at some facts.
Last season's finale of Gene Simmons-Family Jewels featured a marriage proposal to Shannon and ended in a cliff-hanger as to what her answer might be. That episode was the most-watched episode in that show's history- seen by 3 million viewers.
If you haven't been living under a rock, I'm sure you are familiar with Kim Kardashian and her ridiculously over-the-top wedding. And it turns out that she and her family reaped a huge profit from that affair including $15 Million for a two-part special on E! and $2.5 Million for an exclusive with People Magazine. And that doesn't even include all the freebies and incidentals thrown in. There seems to be big money to be made right now in celebrity weddings.
Gene Simmons-Family Jewels new season is scheduled to begin on October 4. That would be just a few days after the wedding, which will more than likely be filmed and be part of the new season.
Gene’s band Kiss has a new album coming out entitled “Monster” and will be kicking of a new tour featuring that album in the next six months.
