Kiss That Frog - Book Review
Best selling author, Brian Tracy along with Christina Tracy Stein, have released another sure to be bestseller. The book, Kiss That Frog! 12 Great Ways to Turn Negatives into Positives in Your Life and Work (Berrett-Koehler Publishers, Inc., 2012) offers an implementable plan for finding the causes of negative thoughts and actions and then turning them into positives.
As with all of Tracy’s books, it is well written and offers great insights. I found something new and applicable to my own life on every page of the 135 pages. It’s a real page-turner and offers valuable suggestions on how to turn those feelings and emotions that “block “ one from obtaining success in life and work.
Tracy asks, “What is the “frog” in your life that you need to “kiss” before you can achieve all that is possible for you? What are the negative experiences in your life that you need to embrace, deal with, and use to transform yourself into the amazing person you are capable of becoming?”
The authors explore topics such as confronters versus evaders, gunny sackers, worry busters, starving negative thoughts and refilling with positive ideas, anger as the core of all negative emotions, blame and fear of rejection. This book is just packed cover to cover with revealing messages about emotions, feelings, unhappiness, happiness and success.
Stein, who is a psychotherapist in private practice, provides a medical look at why some people are depressed and unhappy and others are the exact opposite. In the end, it all boils down to taking action now. The last few pages of the book provides a summary of ideas that should provoke action.
The authors end the book with “Action is everything! Resolve today to put these ideas to work, to kiss your frogs, to face unpleasant situations in your life, and to become a completely, positive, happy, healthy person.”
It is a great motivational book that leaves out judgment and lecture. Every page focuses on why people may be unhappy and effective ways to overcome, leave the past behind and look forward to tomorrow.
