Last Minute Holiday Shopping is Stressful?
Is it Merry Christmas or Bah Humbug??
It is officially Christmas Eve. It's now or never. Whatever gifts you are missing you had better get out there - but be warned. It is getting nasty. And not because of the other shoppers - we are talking customer service, or lack thereof.
I love the last minute running around. Even if I start holiday shopping in June there is something about shopping at the last minute that gets my heart racing.
Unfortunately, that has been ruined for me by customer service. I went to a store yesterday and when I heard the word next I went up to the counter. To me - next means "I'm ready for you." Oh boy, was she ready. When I got to the counter I was greeted by bah-hum bug and a big time attitude. I was purchasing fabric for the first time and had no clue what I was doing. I asked the lady for help as to how much I would need only to be answered with "I HAVE NO IDEA?". When I asked if the pattern that was marked $16.95 was really that much, the customer service person stated with an attitude, "If that's what it says."
Two snotty answers in 30 seconds was too much for me. I walked away with my head down, riddled with anxiety and found a very nice person to help me. It turns out I had enough material and the pattern was $1.99. I spoke to the manager and told her what happened and left the store - disgruntled and no longer happy.
The next stop was food shopping where I witnessed first hand the pharmacist screaming at the top of her lungs at an older woman who apparently asked one question too many. Not only did she stop me in my tracks with the screaming, but she had everyone in the stores full attention. All she had to do was yell "fire," and we would have made a run for it.
I had enough of the Christmas spirit to last me until next year. I want to go out today and get a few things just because - but I don't have the guts - I'm throwing in the towel.
Anyone else notice an increase in bah humbug this time of year when it comes to customer service??
