Marc By Marc Jacobs: FW2012

Fun, fun, fun... That was all I could think about while witnessing the Marc By Marc Jacobs latest collection. Despite the fact that the kids are getting a little bit more grown up and sophisticated season after season, the collection was full of pure fun clothes. Going back to his roots, grunge was a an important feeling in the collection but in an astonishingly sharp, elegant and cool way.
From the Marc By Marc Jacobs show you would not expect to find ground-breaking-avant-guard ideas but modern, cool and highly desirable clothes, and that is what was delivered: edgy commercial clothes that everybody - including me - is going to want to wear. There was a Military-Sailor-school-uniform savoir-fair-charm in the collection but in the most unexpected way possible with amusing hats, shimmery sweaters, shiny pants, velvet dresses, plaid suits and capes, general topcoats, shetland fur jackets, flannel tuxedos pants and the most beautiful gold lamé trenches you could possibly dream of - they were simply breath taking, already in my wish list -, for both men and women, looks that Mr. Bush himself would definitely not approve, and that is what makes it so alluring, the stylishly rebel feeling to it. It was pure edgy-preppy. And I loved the embellished-buckled shoes that Marc Jacobs wore at the end of the show from his premiere line... fabulous.
There was something for everyone, for a night out, a college day and even the first job interview. There were beautiful dresses in luxurious and shiny fabrics with beautiful prints and exposed zippers and plaid suits combined with hardcore combat boots and gracefully studded bags that gave it a playful and stylish easiness to the collection. Get ready to spend your entire first salary with one of the coolest brands in town, just irresistible.
