Milton New York Couple Volunteer for Over 50 Years
Carl and Mary Englehart put the civic shine on the so-called ‘golden years.’
Married for 62 years, the couple has giving back to the community, dedicating their time to various civic duties, such as selling event tickets to holding GOP committee positions.
“For all the 50-plus years I’ve known Carl and Mary, they have been involved in the community, generous with friends, dedicated to family and recognized for their wisdom and support,” town committeeman John Cromie said.
This week the couple will be honored by the local Republicans chapter for their never tiring dedication to the GOP. Acknowledging the years of service, the dynamic duo have put in, Milton’s GOP chairman, Paul Laskey, commented “We couldn’t honor Carl without Mary; they’re a team in every sense of the word.” The event is slated to begin 6 p.m. Wednesday at Panza’s Restaurant, located at 510 State Route 9P in Saratoga Lake.
Carl Englehart came by the civic interest spirit naturally with politics always a family passion in the Englehart home. His father, a local supervisor, instilled in him the importance of civic duty. Carl recently retired as the local receiver of taxes after 39 years, a post he was appointed to in 1972.
On her end, Mary kept just as busy volunteering to everything from stuffing envelopes, overseeing her children’s school-related activities, serving as a girl scout leader, while holding a position on the Saratoga County Fair Board of Directors.
The popular couple, well-known throughout their close-knit community, still manage to volunteer at the First Baptist Church Spa food pantry! We applaud the Englehart’s for their excellent community and civic involvement.
