NYPD Officer Caught in Act of Kindness: How You Can Pay It Forward

By now you've heard of the NYPD Officer Larry DePrimo, who stopped on his beat a few nights ago, because he came across a shoeless, homeless man sitting in what is rapidly becoming very cold weather these days.

Although the homeless man reassured Officer DePrimo that he was fine, the officer realized that despite having a nice set of leather boots and two thick sets of socks, his own feet were still cold. How must the homeless guy be suffering at this point?

Officer DePrimo then took it upon himself to visit a nearby shoe store, and plunked down a nice chunk of change on a decent set of boots and socks, and brought them to the man on the street.

Jennifer Foster, a tourist from Arizona who happened to come across the scene of the officer helping the homeless man with putting on his new socks, realized what was happening, and took what has now become a viral photo of one random act of kindness... Foster was invited to the Today Show, to give her side of the story.

Officer Deprimo was interviewed about what led him, despite walking a beat filled with examples of people in need, to stop and provide this kindness.

Paying it Forward is the concept of providing a typically random act of kindness to others based on what you've experienced. I say you don't have to wait for it to happen to you to begin. Why not let the lump in your throat I'm sure Officer DePrimo's gesture caused be the impetus for you to begin brightening the Season for those around you?

Ways that you can, on a very simple level and without a lot of payout, be your own light unto the World...
