One Beauty, Some Ugly Words and Some Profound - Page 2
There was a time when in America people would say my word is my honor, a handshake is a contract, those people are long gone, what we are left with are their memories.
The most startling however was the comment from young Rima which prompted me to write this article. She attended Catholic school, and talking about her faith she said that she is both Catholic and Muslim.
Rima’s comment may be confusing to some, specially to those who live and die by the labels of their faith, but I know from my own experience that she has company. I have friends who do not belong to any organized religion, none at all, and they are not atheists. One of my non-religious friends once quipped, “I am not intelligent enough to know what I am.”
When asked about religious faith I usually answer, “non religious,” that nonetheless, often brands me as an atheist. When pressed further, I say I am a non praying Taoist-Hindu-Buddhist-Jewish-Christian-Muslim-Sikh-Baha’i.
You have any problem with that?
