San Diego Tops List of Luckiest Town in the US
San Diego made it to number one as the luckiest town in the United States. Men's Health Magazine made a list of the luckiest towns in the US and the California city made it to the top spot.
Editor in Chief, David Zinczenko says, "Luck is basically our modern world's magic... People need to believe in luck because it allows them to give a name to the randomness of life, and when you name something, you have more power over it."
To quantify luck, the magazine collated data on the following:
1. Most winners of Powerball, Mega Millions and Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes.
2. Most hole-in-ones. Source: PGA
3. Fewest lightnings strikes and deaths from falling objects. Source: Vaisala, Inc., National Climatic Data Center, CDC)
4, Least money lost on lottery tickets and race betting. Source: Bureau of Labor Statistics
Based on the above figures, San Diego, California came up on top as the luckiest town in the United States. The top 10 towns are:
1. San Diego, CA
2. Baltimore, MD
3. Phoenix, AZ
4. Wilmington, DE
5. Richmond, VA
6. San Francisco, CA
7. Las Vegas, NV
8. Philadelphia, PA
9. Louisville, KY
10. Reno, NV
And the least luckiest town? It's Charleston in West Virginia. It had four times more deaths from falling objects than San Diego and has had no lottery or sweepstakes winners.
