Sharp Dressed Men Do Better- Obviously!
I am not big on quoting in my articles but, if you've ever heard this quote from a ZZ Top song, you will understand this article very well:
"Women go crazy over a sharp-dressed man." If that's not the truth, I don't know what is!
Recently, I read an article on CNN.com, which seems to state the obvious: well-dressed men do better in life. Work, dating- you name it! If you can dress yourself, you will probably succeed. Why are we so surprised?
This quote from the article pretty much sums it up: "A recent study conducted by Men's Wearhouse found that clothes really do make the man, even on television where a not-so-nice guy might still get the girl when he's nattily attired."
Think about it: who is a woman more likely to go for- a jerk in a nice suit or a nice guy in mismatching sweats and huge glasses? I think the obvious choice, sadly, is the jerk in the nice Armani suit. It's not that women aren't attracted to the "nice guys", we just have a visual component that needs to be fulfilled like any other creature on the planet. While not perfect, anyone who's ever watched "Sex and the City" probably swoons over the character of Mr. Big, Carrie Bradshaw's love interest. While not perfect, Mr. Big personifies the suave gentleman of our dreams. For the men out there, here is a better example: James Bond. James Bond dresses well, saves the day, and ALWAYS gets the lovely leading lady.
This quote from the article sums it up perfectly: "The study revealed findings including 91 percent of Americans think dressing well can make a man appear to be more physically attractive than he really is, eight in ten women would give up something in their lives — such as going out to dinner, using their cell phone, or even having sex for an entire year — for a better-dressed partner and three-quarters of Americans think well-dressed men are more successful in the workplace than their casual colleagues."
So, baggy jean wearers and college guys who live in three-day old sweats- read and take some notes! Wash your clothes and invest in some sharp outfits!
