A senior officer at Fort Bragg was shot and killed by an enlisted soldier who then shot himself. There have also been reports of additional injuries. Law enforcement responded to the shooting around 3:30 PM EST. The 18th Airborne Division has declined to comment until the families of the victims have been notified.

Fort Bragg is the home of Army Special Forces and multiple airborne divisions, such as the 82nd Airborne. It is a major installation of the United States Army, as well as home to the U.S. Army Airborne Forces, U.S. Army Special Forces, and various other divisions of the United States Army.

A news conference was held at 6:00 PM EST, where officials stated that the first soldier shot was dead and two others were injured. The reason for the shooting is not yet known. Authorties are recommending that pedestrians and drivers avoid the area.
