Stay Strong Nation's New CD to Raise PTSD Awareness
Stay Strong Nation, a group created to bring public awareness of the dramatic rise of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), has created a new vehicle to get this message across.
The CD titled “Stay Strong” in two different versions (Hip Hop and Country), was created by former military personnel with PTSD/TBI and has a two fold purpose: to serve as a reminder to our troops that their nation has not forgotten them and to raise money.
First, the Stay Strong CD comes with a postcard the recipient can fill out and return to Stay Strong Nation for delivery to service members stationed in Iraq or Afghanistan. The cards would be delivered in December and displayed in a common area such as the mess hall for all to see.
Second, the sale of the CD is to raise money for the creation of a state-of-the-art PTSD treatment facility in Maui, Hawaii to help affected personnel cope and heal. The CD itself is free, but Stay Strong Nation asks that the shipping and handling fees are paid by the recipients. Another way to raise money is by donations which are always welcome.
The following prayer, Stay Strong Nation Military Prayer, was written by Gene Rabbai and is included at the end of the Country version of the CD:
This prayer Lord, that I say tonight,
Is for our troops who all must fight.
These are the Men and Women that we all love,
And so I pray dear Lord above,
Please keep them safe while they're away,
And bring them home to us someday.
This prayer is not for ours alone,
But for all military far from home.
I ask You to keep them safe and sound,
On their way to where they're bound.
We love them all that are asked to fight,
Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands tonight.
Protect them as they protect us,
For it is in them our country we entrust.
They perform for us in our time of need,
And it is because of them that we are free.
Soldier, Stay Strong.
Stay Strong Nation also distributes literature and makes public appearances to further this cause. I spoke to Keith Crosby, the President of Stay Strong Nation, today and there are several fund-raising events being planned for Honolulu, Miami and Lake Tahoe, but the dates have not yet been confirmed.
