Summer Has Arrived and So Have the Food Recalls
If you are getting ready to throw an old-fashioned BBQ party to kick off summer, hold on for one moment to check the labels as you may have contaminated food. Yes, sadly, recalls have been issued all over the country for certain foods. 2,880 cases of Dole Italian Blend Salad as well as Kroger Fresh Selections Italian Style Blend Salad have been recalled due to a potential contamination of listeria. The bags of lettuce under question have been distributed to Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Wisconsin as well as a few areas in Canada.
Over 1,600 cartons of cantaloupes sold in Sam's Club have been recalled due to possible salmonella contamination in New York and Pennsylvania. If you're in these areas, make sure to check yours before making a fruit salad.
Earlier this month, Kashi recalled nearly 11,000 boxes of frozen pizza due to fragments of plastic found in the pizza dough. If you thought something was wrong with your pizza, you may have been right.
Also, 3,200 lbs of raw and ready to eat sausage from Chicago Boxed Beef Distibutors has been recalled to a possibility that the ready to eat sausages may have been exposed to the raw sausages. These sausages are sold door-to-door and were distributed to the states of Kentucky, Florida, Illinois, South Carolina and Texas.
Lastly, for your pets, 870 lbs of Cat Chow Naturals Dry Cat Food, Friskies Grillers Blend Dry Cat Food and Friskies Grillers Blend Dry Cat Food are being recalled due to another possible contamination of salmonella. The recalled food has been distributed to Idaho, Colorado and Oregon. So, check your pet's food along with your own
