Here’s a scary statistic--“over 100 million Americans are now affected by damaging blood sugar levels.” That 100-million+ is comprised of the nearly 26 million who are currently suffering from diabetes, and approximately 79 million people in a pre-diabetic state (“precursor to irreversible type 2 diabetes"). Our lifestyles are leading us down a dangerous, deadly path; can we do anything to avoid it?

Is it possible to adopt a program of lifestyle modification that would allow self-management of diabetes? Diane Kress, author of The Metabolism Miracle and The Metabolism Miracle Cookbook, believes that self-management is an achievable reality. In her latest book, The Diabetes Miracle: 3 Simple Steps to Prevent and Control Diabetes and Regain Your Health…Permanently, Kress expands on her findings in relation to “Metabolism B” (metabolic syndrome) and applies them to those who have pre-diabetes or type 2 diabetes.

The Diabetes Miracle is a guide to understanding diabetes as well as a plan for managing it. Kress developed the “Core Miracle” diet and she is her own success story, “having managed her own diabetes for years through The Diabetes Miracle lifestyle program alone." It should be noted that the program is more than a diet; there are recommendations for exercise and exercise safety, and Kress provides charts for record- and progress-keeping.

Although The Diabetes Miracle is not a cookbook, it offers sample menu ideas and a comprehensive discussion of various foods and the effects they have. It also includes detailed information about insulin, medications, monitoring, hypoglycemia, and alternative treatments. The Diabetes Miracle will be published in February; it is a thorough examination of diabetes and its management for those who are ready to take control of their own health.
