The Rise of Online Colleges and Online Education - Page 3
Like a traditional college course, each class has its own syllabus that tells you when your assignments are due. There are some courses, like math classes, where homework can easily be done online and graded by the computer on the spot. However, if your math teacher likes to see your written problems, he may require that you mail a portion of your homework assignments to him. Other classes, like English classes, have assignments that are submitted via email or drop box. This allows the teacher to go in and manually grade each assignment.
Most professors like you to interact with the other students in your class so you also have the opportunity to learn from your peers. This is typically done by conversing in a private forum, and there are numerous professors who will assign forum posts as part of your grade. The forums also give you the opportunity to have papers and other work critiqued by your peers. Don't be surprised if the critique of others is part of your assignment grade through the semester.
