The Way of Ken Goldstein - Page 4

Actually, I’ve not read Ken’s book yet; although I did download it (you can get it at www.thewayofthenerd.com) and plan on reading it immediately. So, there wasn’t much I could ask him about the book; but what I could pursue was how the release of this very personal tome has affected his life.
Ken: “Oh my God; it’s been incredible. Smartest thing I ever did. Not only did the initial release help me weed out people in my life who didn’t have my back; but it introduced me to amazing people all around the world and through it’s initial success I’ve been able to use it as a tool to support everything else I’m doing. I’ve had The Six Shooter Company for over twenty years, but last year I made sure that every new hire and every new client read it before we started working together so we’d be on the same page philosophically from day one. It’s had a profound impact on the way my business runs.”
“Originally I didn’t know that The Way of the Nerd was going to be a series, but during the Fall of 2011 I really saw the potential of expanding it from one book to ten; and then I found no end of inspiration to write the rest of the books. My plan now is to release one every year for the next nine years. I’m working on the second book now which is called, The Way of the Nerd: Actually I am Going to Tell You What to do With Your Life. That will be out by the end of August this year.”
Me: “So would you say you’ve mastered The Way of the Nerd consciousness?”
Ken: “Hell no. Living your life by the way of the Tao, which is the natural way of living (to live as nature does) is something you have to practice every day – like how a doctor or lawyer is always practicing their trade. I have ups and downs like everyone and sometimes I forget to use the tools I write about and shit gets whacked. But then I reconnect to the material and I get my head back on track.”
Me: “I’ll be reading your book as soon as we finish this interview; so I can’t really ask you too much about it. But since you’re working on the second book now, can you tell me what new tools your readers can expect?”
Ken: “Sure. And to explain to your readers – I use the word ‘tools’ to describe the lessons my book teaches. And I encourage my readers to build their own virtual tool belt where they can store these tools for when they need to deal with what life throws at them. My absolute favorite new tool that I’m writing about, and the one that is the basis of my The Day of the Nerd seminars, is that the opposite of success is not failure – it’s an opportunity.”
