Therapy Dogs On Campus - Page 2
I have had personal experience with a "therapy dog". My toy Poodle went to work with me every day. Being a paramedic, there were very stressful days that were hard to handle due to a bad run and ,maybe even, a fatality. Sometimes it was hard to get things back in perspective to go on with the day and be able to make the next run.
On those days, I would come back stressed, anxious, down or whatever emotion I was experiencing, and there would be my dog. He would jump in my lap and just be there for me. I would feel myself relaxing and calming more quickly than I did otherwise. He provided a great service to me.
So, I say, "carry on, therapy dogs! You continue to offer a vital service to the ill, injured, stressed, and those who need a companion. Thank you for your service." I’m sure we will see them used in even more situations as we go along. Maybe at work?
