Weird Halloween Confections: Chocolate Molds Fashioned From Real Human Skulls
It is a simple equation, with Halloween almost upon us, children's minds turn to all things spooktacular from fancy costumes, to pumpkins and candy, to the inevitable trick or treat.
In general I find kids aren't fussy as long as Halloween involves pseudo-creepy ghosties, perhaps a smidgen of gore and lots and lots of sweets. It takes little things to please small minds. As an adult however, it means I want something extra from my Halloween confectionery, something to give it an extra "edge." Clearly, chocolate skulls are the perfect solution for anyone wishing to celebrate Halloween in a very grown up, but very creative manner.
For all those closet skull fans out there it is also the only time of year you can legitimately buy skulls without being ‘outed’ or having your music collection ransacked in search of Cure records.
The offerings from Chocolate Skulls (right) are certainly unique and indeed macabre, they make lovingly recreated replicas of human skulls each cast from an actual human cranium of a deceased person. As well as light, dark, milk, fair trade and 80 percent cocoa, these astonishing creations are also available in a unique blend of 'bone chocolate' that matches the color of freshly harvested bone. That said, I have to admit I am fairly happy not knowing what freshly harvested human bones look like.
If you love the concept but can't quite face the anatomically correct replicas, then chocolate experts such as choccywoccydoodah have less morbid chocolate skulls for sale. Whilst D.L Curious, self styled "modern alchemists and purveyors of curious goods," sell the super chic examples below.

Of course If you don't have the head (or stomach) for this, or the unique ability to consume the weight of an adult head in solid chocolate, then you can always opt for over 1 pound of solid chocolate in the form of this anatomically correct heart.
With a smattering of imagination and a little playfulness, All Hallows' Eve can be fun for every kid at heart.
