What Is The Oprah Effect? - Page 2
“I think our conversation will give us one more reason to remember the date 10/11/12.” Judith said.
I totally agree – Nancy and Judith are two wonderful ladies who wrote this book as a way to give back. Both of these ladies come from long careers that have always seen them both in some way giving back to those around them.
We conversed and laugh about many things. Our conversation was very much in the spirit of their book The Oprah Effect and an episode of the show – we learned about each other in order to educate and inform others.
Nancy has been a healer and a massage therapist to the stars and has had a passion for cooking for over 30 years. She has published two books; Siren’s Feast, An Edible Odyssey and The Supernatural Kids Cookbook. Judith is a writer and publisher. She’s developed writers throughout her career and is currently the Vice Chair for Meteor 17. Judith takes pride in the fact that she informs and creates a sense of community.
Judith had done some research on me prior to us talking and made a fascinating discovery.
“I found it very curious that we kind of had a similar path and that the day that you jumped into the journalism foray was the very same day that Nancy and I met at Hugo’s in the valley to discuss The Oprah Effect. That was the same day that President Obama had made the announcement about Bin Laden.” Judith said.
My very first article here on Technorati was also my very first as a journalist – Bin Laden Dead; US Rejoices. I started writing it as the announcement was made that evening, it was published the next day.
My favorite lesson out of this book is one that I'm sure we're all able to relate to. "Learn How To Receive Graciously." It was followed by the anecdote "You Can't Always Be The Who Gives."
For those of us who are used to being the "giver," it tends to be hard to receive anything nice graciously. It can be something as simple as a compliment, the instant that we receive that graciously we open our eyes to realize that there are those around us who are equally interested in making us as happy as we make them. Afterall, everyone wants and deserves to be happy.
This is just a small example of the gifts that those who read this book will graciously be accepting from Nancy and Judith.Continued on the next page
