We're already half way through the first month of 2013, but that doesn't mean it's too late to start a New Year's resolution. And one resolution that should definitely be on your list this year is salsa dancing.

Why salsa dancing, you ask?  Quite simply salsa is the most popular form of social dancing in the world, danced in hundreds of countries.  Not convinced?  Here are 5 reasons reasons why you should make salsa dancing a New Year's resolution:

1) Salsa dancing is great for your health

Weight loss is one of the most popular resolutions that people make, but this usually just ends up in a gym membership and hours spent on the treadmill.  Don't be that person!  Salsa dancing is a great form of exercise that's the perfect alternative to the gym for cardio.  Forget sweaty gyms and boring Stairmasters-- get out and dance while you burn the pounds away.

2) Salsa dancing is social

Another great benefit of salsa dancing is that it's a social activity.  If you're like most office workers, you're probably trapped in a long cycle of working all day and then going home to watch TV, with little chance to meet new people.  Salsa provides a fun and exciting way for you to increase your social circle.  Even if you're naturally introverted, salsa will make it easier for you to meet new friends.

3) Salsa dancing builds confidence

One of the things that people feel least confident about (next to public speaking) is their dancing ability. The great thing about salsa is that it teaches you how to dance step-by-step, starting with the basics and then moving onto more advanced moves.  Even if you feel like you have two-left feet, after a few weeks of practice you should start to feel more confident on the dance floor.
