GM Will Buy Back Chevy Volts from Fearful Owners
General Motors plans to buy any Chevrolet Volt back from any owner if they fear the plug-in extended-range electric car will catch fire, according to the company's CEO.
CEO Dan Akerson confidently insists that the cars are safe to drive. However, the company plans to keep customers happy by offering to purchase the Volts. This goes beyond the recently released policy whereby General Motors offered loaner cars to customers who were afraid of fires in their Volts.
According to a conversation as reported in the USA Today with Chevy spokesperson Michelle Bunker. This news is not new news at all. The buy-back of Chevy Volts is all part of the same loaner process for fearful owners of Chevy Volts, “this is not 'new news.' This is one and the same.”
General Motors now blames the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for improperly storing the crashed Volts.
The spokesperson says that only a “handful” of Volt owners have asked for owner cars. The CEO for General Motors says that they will recall the more than 6,000 Chevy Volts on the road in the United States and repair them once the company and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration determine the exact cause of the fires.
