Volkswagen has brought back Herbie the Love Bug, Walt Disney's original artificially intelligent machine, introducing the VW Beetle 53 Edition - to Spanish car buyers that is.

Available only in Spain, buyers can now get their hands on the ultimate in "slug bug" punchables for only 22,000 Euros.

The 53 Edition sports 17 inch wheels and its powerhouse ranges from a 1.2 liter to a 2.0 liter TDI or DSG engine. Unfortunately, along with the racing stripes and iconic number 53, there's nothing additional under the hood to make this version of the ever-popular bug anything more powerful than the street version. And even though there is a turbo version, Volkswagen isn't giving it up in this version. So no last minute boosts of power to win that street race. WTF?

To get you in the mood to be truly jealous of the Spaniards (for once), here's a clip from a vintage Herbie movie...

No word yet as to whether or not we in the U.S., where the Herbie movies were made in the first place, will get our hands on one...
