Although the country as a whole seems to be doing a lot better these days, many people across America are still suffering the effects of the recession. Which is why we must be careful not to waste any money unnecessarily. Fall will soon be approaching meaning that energy bills will be once again going up. Follow these 5 simple steps to help reduce your energy bill.

1: Unplug and save
Although you may not be using them, the things that you keep plugged in such as the television, cell phone chargers, and other electrics can drain energy. So, if you are not using it make sure to unplug it.

2: Buy Better Bedding
Bedding such as down comforters can come in handy in the winter months. With down comforter sets
or an alternative to down you will be able to retain more body heat while you sleep. Which means that you can turn down the heat a little more.

3: Replace Your Boiler
If you did not know boilers do have an expiration date. Although many people keep these for twenty or thirty years these should actually be replaced every ten. Chances our that your boiler is wasting 25% or more energy then it needs to.

4: Better Installation
By making sure your house has good installation, you can make sure no heat escapes, which can save you 15% or more.

5: Change Your Company
This is by far the easiest yet least followed steps. A lot of people over pay for electricity yet most of them will keep the same supplier. In fact 47% of home owners will keep the same supplier they have. Be smart about it and look around and compare rates to see if you are getting the most bang for your buck.

By following these easy to do steps you will be sure to cut out a lot of unnecessary energy spending.
