Denver: Holiday Happenings on a Budget
If you’ve got family in town for the holidays here are a few free and/or low cost festive holiday events in Denver.
FREE Coors Factory Tour
The tour is a fascinating 35 minutes long and takes you through the beer making process from beginning to end! At the end of the tour guests 21+ can enjoy FREE samples of beer. Root beer is available for the kiddos. Tour times are from 10-4 Thu-Mon except 12-4 on Sun. They will be closed Christmas Eve and Christmas day. Parking is available on the SE corner of 13th and Ford. A free shuttle will take you to the plant! Coors is located in Golden at 13th and Ford Street. For more information you can call 303.277.2552.
FREE Celestial Seasonings Tour
The tour is approximately 45 minutes long and tours are available Mon-Sat and leave every hour on the hour from 10am-4pm. And Sun from 11am-3pm. Check out how the teas are made, get an opportunity to sample the teas and also check out the original artwork shown on the tea boxes. Celestial Seasonings is located in Gunbarrel, between Longmont and Boulder at 4600 Sleepytime Drive. For more information call 303-581-1202. Also note that group reservations are required for groups of 8 or more.
Check out the Zoolights at the Denver Zoo; enjoy the 150 animated animal sculptures and the 38-acres of lights! SPECIALS: visit Santa from Dec. 10-23 from 5pm-9pm. Check out the Wild Ice sculptures from Dec. 17-23 from 5pm-9pm. Kwanzaa celebration on Dec. 26 from 5pm-9pm. Zoo Year’s Eve on Dec. 31st from 5pm-9pm. They have warming huts for if and when you get chilly. It is FUN FOR ALL. Non-member admission prices are as follows: $4.00 for ages 3-11, $8.00 for ages 12-64 and $6.00 for 65+. Bring a non-perishable food item and receive $1.00 off the price of admission!
