The folks at Lionsgate and HiT Entertainment know what their young audiences want and it’s more Angelina, more Bob, and more Sam. Angelina Ballerina: Dreams Do Come True, Fireman Sam: Heroic Rescue Adventures, and Bob the Builder: The Ultimate Can-Do Crew Collection are the latest titles from this trio of preschool favorites.

Everyone knows that fire fighters are heroes; it doesn’t take a national tragedy or natural disaster to make that clear. Sometimes, like when there’s no fire, we take these heroes for granted or they seem to fade into the background. Fireman Sam is here to remind us who our heroes really are in Fireman Sam: Heroic Rescue Adventures, available on demand, DVD, or for digital download.  Sam is all about safety and teaches responsibility and good citizenship to kids aged two through five.

As if there aren’t enough challenges from “civilians,” Sam’s team of junior firefighters keep him busy with their own shenanigans—in this collection Norman manages to get stuck in both a fiery tower and a wishing well, Sarah is stranded on the cliffs, and Mike and Penny dangle in their own perilous situations. The six episodes are “Towering Inferno,” “Seeing Red,” “Pontypandy Extreme,” “Elvis Sings the Blues,” “Fireworks for Mandy,” and “Double Trouble.” Video-on-demand includes a bonus episode, “Alarm on the Beach.”

Bob the Builder: The Ultimate Can-Do Crew Collection features my favorite contractor in ten “tool-tastic” episodes, which may be why he hasn’t shown up at my house to fix the leak under the sink—he’s a very busy builder. Bob teaches two- through five-year-olds “The fun is in getting it done.”  He and the Can-Do Crew solve problems, help friends, and get it done in “Pilchard in a Pickle,” “Wendy’s Busy Day,” “Bob’s Barn Raising,” “Wendy’s Tennis Court,” “One Shot Wendy,” “Dizzy the Sheepdog,” “Mr. Bentley—Dogsitter,” “Travis’s Busy Day,” “Muck’s Surprise,” and “Trix and the Bug.” The DVD includes two bonus games: “If You Were on Bob’s Team” and “Lofty the Painter.”  Bob the Builder: The Ultimate Can-Do Crew Collection is available on DVD, digital download, and on-demand.  Bob the Builder emphasizes cooperation, caring, creative problem-solving, and other positive social skills.
