August 30, 2011, marks the release of two DVD series from Organa Kids for the preschool set, Castle Farm and Happy Valley. Volumes 1 and 2 of each will be released; the cartoons are intended to entertain and support social skills “by relating to [children] on their own level.”

Castle Farm is delightfully animated—the characters and backgrounds look like children’s crayon drawings. Each volume includes nine episodes, short enough for a toddler’s attention span. Castle Farm is populated by Farm Girl, Farmer, a unicorn, and a barnyard of animals (with British accents) who go about the business of operating the farm while “they solve mysteries, fix things, get chores done, play games and learn lessons about friendship, responsibility and having fun.” Kids will also learn about a variety of animals.

Happy Valley, another English import with nine episodes on each DVD. The children in the valley are featured as they learn about the world and life that surrounds them. Songs and nursery rhymes--both traditional and modern—are included in many of the episodes. Colorfully illustrated, Happy Valley focuses on familiar childhood experiences like splashing in the rain, going to school, visiting grandparents, and observing nature. The cheerily narrated stories instruct as they captivate, with facts about animals and lessons that will “last a lifetime.”

Castle Farm and Happy Valley are recommended for children ages 2-5.
