KidVid: The Wubb Club Invites Preschoolers to Join the Fun
January 3, 2012, is the date; Anchor Bay Entertainment’s release of a new DVD--The Wubb Club--is the event, and everyone is invited to join. The Wubb Club may mean little to you if you’re not a preschooler (or the parent of one) and/or fan of highly-rated Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! , but for those “in the know,” it is an invitation to have fun—and absorb important “life lessons” The Wubb Club offers along the way. You don’t even need to live in Wuzzleburg (is that in Wuzzlevania?) to be a member.
The Wubb Club includes seven episodes, “The Wubb Club,” “Who’s That Girl?,” “Wubbzy’s Big Movie,” “Wubbzy’s Rainy Day,” “Daizy’s Hair Salon,” “Quiet Wubbzy,” and “Meet the Wuzzles.” Also included are coloring and activity sheets, and music videos.
The emphasis is on fun, but the underlying themes support friendship, cooperation, responsibility, listening, compromise, helping, appreciation, self-awareness, coping through humor, community, sharing, sensitivity, and social development. Teaching all of that to tots may seem an awesome responsibility, but Wubbzy and his friends, Daizy, Walden, and Widget, are all up to the task (they “deal with the same social and developmental issues faced by preschoolers”). Caregivers who share the responsibility with the cartoon characters will find numerous opportunities for discussion to enhance the value of the lessons presented.
Bright animation and engaging, colorful characters have boosted the popularity of Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!, which is seen in over sixty countries. It currently airs daily on Nick Jr. (To play on-line Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! games, click here.)
