No Trash TV for First Daughters
As the children of the generation that grew up watching television get older, there's always this battle of what can and can't kids watch. And, with the various options brought to your living room courtesy of cable or satellite TV, the options are endless — at least in theory, some would argue.
It's an argument that kids and parents have throughout the country and an argument that's even going on at the White House.
In an interview scheduled to appear in PEOPLE magazine, the Obamas reveal that they have TV rules. According to a report on MSNBC, the kids — Malia, 11, and Sasha, 8 — get to watch TV only on weekends. While the president and first lady watch a lot of sports, the first daughters stick to a lot of Disney and Nickelodeon shows.
One thing that was clear, MSNBC reported, no one at all watches “Jersey Shore,” the trashy hit on MTV that has taken young people and the like by storm.
“They can only watch the kid-TV channels for the most part, because you just never know,” Mrs. Obama tells PEOPLE. The president, however, does make an exception: “Unless they want to watch football with me, which they're always welcome. But somehow they haven't been drawn to that yet.”
