Certified Wood Is The Key To Sustainable Forests
Furniture is one of the world's industries which requires wood as its raw material. As they consume a lot of wood, they are starting to realize that they can do a lot to maintain forest sustainability.
After all, wood and forests are renewable resources, but only with the proper management. To provide an impetus to these goals, recently many of the world's furniture business players began using certified wood.
Wood certificates are documents that show the history of the lumber. Certified wood can (literally) be traced to its roots and how it was planted. There are several organizations which promote forest conservation that can help with wood certification. When they do this, they help forested countries continue to conserve and manage the replanting of their trees.
Certified timber is one of the green furniture movements. This trend is expected to reduce or stop illegal logging. Furthermore, this allows the exploration of wood forests to be done properly so that forests remain alive and well. There are still some furniture business players that don't subscribe to certified wood policies yet, but hopefully in the future, more and more — and eventually all — furniture companies (and other manufacturing industries that use wood) will take to this practice.
