The annual Colorado Home & Garden Show started on Feb. 9 and will last through Feb. 17 at the Colorado Convention Center. As one of the biggest home shows in the U.S., it has become known for attracting innovative ideas and the latest green technology trends. It features 600 companies and 1,400 booths spread over 400,000 square feet this year.

Early estimates indicate that 60,000 people could attend the 2013 Colorado Home & Garden Show. With 14 acres of gardens and hundreds of companies from 25 states and other areas represented at the event, it offers an easy escape from winter. Similar to previous shows, there is a strong focus on green technology and incorporating ideas that homeowners can replicate.

The 2013 theme is “Flowers and Flight,” and the Colorado Home & Garden Show has provided many ideas to make homes more eco-friendly. For example, BungoBoxes will feature their reusable moving containers that do not require any tape while JM Kitchen & Bath will showcase their Urban Wood initiative that relies on reclaimed wood from urban areas instead of tree farms to make products. The 9-day event will include items such as energy-efficient concrete floors, air purification systems, natural cleaning products and solar energy installations.

The Colorado Home & Garden Show is featuring several unique trends such as the TruSTEAM humidification system that relies on naturally increasing the moisture content in a home while cutting energy bills. Even pet doors are getting an upgrade with specially designed magnetic flaps to reduce energy loss in the home. There are solutions from Restoration 1 for dealing with mold or water damage by using green techniques and recycled mulch made from tires from Front Range Tire Recycle. The focus on green restoration, renewable resources, recycled products and innovative home ideas is back at the Colorado Home & Garden Show.
