Planting trees is one way to help maintain the natural preservation and reduce global warming in the world. Trees will capture CO2 in the air and release O2 which will reduce the greenhouse effects, the major cause of global warming in this earth.

Driven from awareness to reduce CO2 in the air, the Indonesia government together with environmental activists in Indonesia is doing the movement of trembesi tree planting. The trembesi or saman tree is chosen because it is considered the effective tree to reduce global warming. The trembesi tree during his lifetime absorb the CO2 air in large amount, up to 28 tons per year.

This tree is also relatively easy to grow and live in the tropics area without any special treatment.

The tree planting movement was announced by the government led by Indonesia President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and followed by all local governments and all people care about the environment. "It seems just a plant and maintain trees, but if we do it in earnest in large numbers, our country will change," he said when giving the debriefing of trembesi tree cultivation in the State Palace (13/1/2010).

President Yudhoyono said the planting of one million trembesi tree in every province as part of government efforts to realize the commitment to reduce CO2 emissions by 26 percent in 2020. "Do not let the earth ravaged by global warming," he said.

In each area the program is conducted by each local government cooperate with companies that care about the environment and it done by involving the communities, NGOs, environmental activists and even artists who care about the environment.

For example, in Central Java, this program is run by the provincial government in cooperation with PT Jarum with the environmental activist. They invited some famous artists like Luna Maya and Nuggie to joining the plant trees event on the road between Semarang-Kudos in March and April. This event attracted many peoples and hopefully could opened their mind to be aware about the environment issues.

This program will be continuing to be done in allover Indonesia so that would really give benefits for the whole world.
