Ohio Ecological Food and Farm Assosication Empowers Consumers

If knowledge is power, then OEFFA is certainly giving consumers an opportunity to acquire a greater control of their food and food sources.
To those unfamiliar with OEFFA, it was founded in 1979 as a grassroots coalition of farmers, backyard gardeners, consumers, retailers, educators, researchers, and anyone who desires to build a healthy food system. OEFFA also helps preserve farmland and promotes economic development to rural communities.
OEFFA members have just received the 2010 Ohio Sustainable Farm Tour and Workshop Series.
This annual event is sponsored by Innovative Farmers of Ohio (IFO) and Ohio State University Sustainable Agriculture Team.
The 16-page booklet provides the names of those sharing their expertise and opening their farms and operations to OEFFA members and the public. The excerpts that describe the tours and workshops come complete with addresses, directions, maps, and all contact information. Wherever applicable, the USDA organic certification is clearly displayed.
Tours and workshops include topics such as "Specialty Crop Production and Wind Power," "Biodynamic Herbs and Honey," "Home-scale Ecological Production," "Urban Ecological Food Production," "Goat Dairy" and much more.
OEFFA has the expertise to answer any amateur or professional grower's "How to" question, offering people the know-how to produce their own food and subsequently, to rely less on major food corporations' offerings of highly processed foods.
