The BBC reports that Prince Charles spoke out against climate change deniers, noting that their impact on public opinion is "corrosive."

The Prince of Wales linked his argument to economics - stating that environmentalists "should sell the benefits of sustainable living rather than just telling people what to give up."

He noted that it would be devastating to future generations to continue depleting resources at the rate we are currently consuming them, and posited that it would be impossible to maintain continued economic growth without looking toward sustainable solutions.

Does the implication of climate change deniers - that scientists and others are seeking to destroy the capitalist system - hold any weight according to the Prince?  "I would ask how these people are going to face their grandchildren and admit to them they failed their future," he noted.

But the "sustainability" revolution offers many of the same opportunities to grow economically - much like the revolution in mobility brought about by the automobile, or the digital revolution spurred by the internet.

According to Urban Sustainability Associates, "this time it is the green industries—conservation, resource efficiency, renewable energy generation, pollution prevention, and waste minimization and recycling—that are the
engine of transformation, and all businesses are coming to use their products and services."

Can businessmen, politicians, scientists, and consumers come together to embrace the next era in economic growth and environmental conservation?  According to Prince Charles, the two goals aren't at odds with each other, and this coming together is an absolute necessity.
