Travis Waddell is the owner of this innovative company which, in response to the oil rig disaster in the Gulf, has created a cost efficient, durable, and reusable water barrier system that appears to work a lot better than plastic booms or booms made of natural fibers designed to soak up crude oil.
Watching the clean-up effort along the Gulf Coast, Waddell saw an opportunity to help protect the coastline as well as get a little exposure for his tiny Ohio company. He began testing the panels by first applying to them an absorbent polyurethane material – and they seem to work.
The cost-efficient, reusable barrier system is easy to install, stock or ship, and is also customizable.
With the current shortage of clean-up supplies, BP and the government would be wise to implement the barrier system SOS Erosion has created, or any other clean-up system created and offered by other ecologically conscious companies, big or small, local or national.
