Le Palais de la Mediterranee Hotel in Nice, South of France.
Le Palais de la Mediterranee - A Truly Magnificent Hotel.
A few years ago, my wife and I decided to take a trip to Nice, located in the south of France. It was a place I'd heard quite a lot about, reading plenty of reviews regarding its attractions and many hotels.
We caught a flight from Manchester airport one Friday morning ready to enjoy a long bank holiday weekend. Our hotel choice was the "Le Palais de la Mediterranee" after it was so brilliantly recommended by Tripadvisor. We arrived at the hotel around lunchtime, where it looked even better in real life, something I have not been able to say too often in the past. Situated right on the promenade, the hotel's glistening white exterior made it stand out from the rest in the midday sun.
Often in the past we've seen hotels from the outside looking fantastic; you go into the lobby, which is also beautiful, then to your room, and it's one very big letdown! The hotel room didn't let us down, as it was the size of a full suite with a balcony looking directly out to sea, making us think we had been given the wrong room. It had a separate lounge area and complimentary snacks and wine for our arrival. The bathroom was all marble surfaces with gold effect taps, which, to be honest, made me want to try and take them off to take home for our bathroom! There was also a magnificent big bath and separate walk-in shower.
We almost didn't want to leave the room because it was so nice; no, not nice, absolutely fantastic in every way! However we got showered and went out for our lunch. We intended to take a walk around the corner to where we were told there were plenty of restaurants and cafes. Instead we walked into the hotel bar which had big sofas and an excellent choice for those looking for lunch. It was such a relaxed atmosphere and the air conditioning was just right.
