Monaco

Our Visit to Monaco.

What can I say about Monaco? Well, a lot actually. From the moment we arrived at the small heliport in Monaco everything just seemed different. The air seemed cleaner, the weather warmer, the building grander and the wallets larger!

We traveled by private car to our hotel, “Hotel Hermitage” and on the way we were awe struck by just how pristine everything looked, but I guess things always look better when it’s sunny. The hotel itself was another opportunity for our jaws to hit the floor, a large Baroque style hotel filled with marble floors, polished wooden hand rails and granite pillars, not to mention the grand chandeliers which seemed to cover the whole ceiling.

I think the best way to really, truly experience what Monaco is all about is to site down at an outside café on an early evening with a drink and just watch the people who come and go. We decided to site in the main square and do just this. We happened to be sitting in an outside bar close to the main entrance for the “Casino de Monte-Carlo.”

What an experience this was; luxury car after luxury car drove to the entrance, well dressed people got out and walked through the entrance to the casino whilst smartly dressed valet parking assistants parked their cars for them. I swear some of the jewelery the women were wearing nearly blinded us!

Monaco never ceases to amaze me, from the shops which you need an appointment to get into to the many beautiful yachts and boats in the harbor, and it is these yachts and boats which I think epitomize Monaco. If you do nothing else whilst in Monaco you must go to the harbor, take a look at the unbelievably sized boats and try to imagine what kind of people own them, I kid you not some of the private boats are bigger than channel ferry boats.

All in all, Monaco is a must experience for anybody, it’s a beautiful place to visit and as long as you’ve got plenty of money on you you’ll have a great time. I’ve mentioned above about the things which fascinated me about the place but there are also other aspects to Monaco such as some of its beautiful public gardens, magnificent beaches and relaxing swimming pools. However, for me, Monaco says money, fame and a lifestyle that's out of this world.
