To Travel or Not To Travel
Why is it that everyone thinks it would be a great idea to go and see the world? I personally think the idea stems from a natural instinct to explore, and conquer new, exciting realms. However, this instinct is lost for a lot of people and they spend their lives saying ‘what if’ and ‘if only.’ I’m not necessarily saying that everyone should travel, because I know that the lifestyle doesn’t suit everyone. A lot of my friends for example have full time jobs which they are committed to and thoroughly enjoy, some on the other hand do not have these luxuries and go on in life with regrets. So I guess what’s important is discovering whether seeing the world and the lifestyle that goes with it is really what excites and inspires you. My advice would be to just go for it, and so what if the lifestyle doesn’t suit you… you’re a human, you can adapt.
I have just spent the last 10 months traveling North America with my fiancée and have loved every second of it. The freedom which comes with traveling never gets old, and the feeling of being in a completely different country experiencing different and varied cultures is amazing.
My name is Daniel, and since starting my travels in January of 2011, I have been to seven U.S states. While traveling to some of their most iconic cities, I have migrated across a continent traveling through five Canadian provinces, and I’m only three quarters of the way through. I still have a lot I want to do before my visa runs out in January.
The fact is, I’m here… I’ve done these things and when I look back all I see is happiness. I don’t think I can honestly say that about a period of my life, because along the way there have always been regrets and some bad times. The beauty of traveling is that if you experience bad times, just re-pack your suitcase and pick a city. I started in Vancouver and ended up living there for nine months because I loved it so much. I travel around doing things which I have never done, like skiing for example. After all, isn't that what traveling is all about - broadening your mind and being open to change and variety? I think it is!Continued on the next page
