I am a professional writer and educator and I become a tougher mom and wife with each passing experience. My platform for writing is all about education, awareness and change. Not only do I write to inform and entertain, but I write to change a person's perspective and to inspire action. My writing experience began in 4th grade (many moons ago) when I won 1st prize in a creative writing competition in school. Although that in itself is impressive, I also hold an Associates Degree in English Literature, a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, and I am currently completing my Master's Degree in Education through Marylhurst University. I worked and taught with Teach for America for two years in the great state of Hawaii and I have contributed written work and teaching strategies to public and private foundations to include the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and The BERC Group, Inc. I currently hail from the great state of Oregon, with my Army husband and my three sons, ages 16, 14, and 7. I consider myself witty and optimistic, not cynical. I believe anyone can change if they choose to and that honesty is the best quality in a person. I continue to teach, learn, write and inspire. I hope you enjoy my articles!
