Penny AlexanderDateline: Dispatches from the front line of family life
I worked as a teacher for seven years, leading a successful Film and Media department and teaching Drama. It was very rewarding, but all consuming, and after waiting a very respectable 29 years, I decided getting pregnant was my exit strategy out of the education system. Mission accomplished, I took a career break to become a full time mum. In that time I have gained a five year old girl, a two year old boy, an MA in Media and Culture, a Diploma in Creative Writing, a pile of short stories, poetry and life writing and two halves of a novel. I have worked freelance as an education consultant and an arts practitioner in schools.
