Upon graduation, he spent four years in commercial real estate and residential appraisal in Arizona. He then practiced business consulting and financial planning with the firm Apex Advisors, Inc., as a senior financial consultant in Salt Lake City, Utah, leaving that firm in 2002. During that time he was also a general securities registered principal managing a branch office for a broker/dealer. He holds the Chartered Financial Consultant professional designation. He added de novo bank consulting to that mix in 2001, when he began writing his first bank application. In 2002, the group Wendell was working with received a charter for the first bank he organized; he knew at that time that he wanted to organize more banks. Since then, he has focused on bank consulting and has consulted many organizing groups, from the first person to have the idea of organizing a de novo bank to the opening of its doors. Additionally, Wendell consults on strategies to complete bank mergers and acquisitions by individuals or groups that want to purchase a bank. He has organized bank projects and or written bank applications for de novo banks in several states including Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Texas, California, Arizona, and Utah. These banks have capitalized with over $100 million in capital, including one, which set a state record for the largest capital campaign for a de novo bank. Over the years he has taught thousands of people at financial workshops on topics that include cash flow management, how to start and capitalize a bank, tax-related issues, securities and investments and debt management, and estate planning, etc. His consulting practice is located in the Dallas, Texas Metro Area, which is more accessible to a nationwide client base. Wendell is a supporter of Boy Scouts of America and has served in various leadership positions. Currently, he serves as Scoutmaster of Troop 123 in McKinney, Texas. He is also an Eagle Scout. Wendell served six years as a member of the board of trustees of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Utah and currently serves as the Executive Director of CREED, Inc., a non-profit that focuses on economic education and development.
