Cynthia Popper

My background is in literature. I hold a B.A. in English from U.C. Berkeley and an M.A. in English and American Literature from Mills College. I’m represented by the John Talbot Literary Agency in New York City, and I have a creative non-fiction book proposal presently in the marketplace. The by-product of such training includes expertise in grammar, style, proofreading, research, and line editing. I have taught the following subjects at the middle school, high school and college level: English and American Literature, Poetry, SAT Preparation, and Writing Composition. I have a passion for all things aesthetic: teapots, cloth-covered books, curly-cues, vintage jewelry. When I’m up against a wall in a debate I speak slowly and become smugly intellectual, a la James Lipton. I love sleeping in libraries and through bad movies, and tend to get fidgety at fancy parties. Addictions include Edgar Allan Poe, early American print culture, thrift shops, and sugar in it various forms. And coffee. Phil’z Coffee in the Mission District. Lots of it.
