Journalist for 34 years. Have worked for Cinema Journal ( Free Press, Mumbai), Filmworld, Current ( two tenures as sub-editor), Onlooker ( two tenures, one as sub-editor and later as chief sub-editor), Probe India ( plus other Hindi mags of Mitra Prakhashan, Allahabad) as bureau chief, launched Newstrek tabloid weekly ( assistant editor) in 1982 with a colleague and with finance from an industrialist and ran it for nearly two years. Worked in the Gulf for The Riyadh Daily ( senior editor), Gulf Today ( night editor) and Oman Tribune ( op-ed pages editor during first tenure). Next,in 2009,launched and edited a fashion magazine, Fashion Rage, in Dubai. Returned to Oman Tribune as night editor in 2010.In 2011 changed to Editorial Pages Editor. Have written over 600 crime, investigative and feature stories plus interviews etc. Have written columns for Free Press Journal,Hindustan Times, Mumbai and numerous other publications. Have written a book on Saudi Arabia. Mutawas: Saudi Arabia's Dreaded Religious Police, was published by Zen Publications, Mumbai ( zenpublications.com) in November 2009.Sixteen favourable reviews/ writeups/ interviews with me on the book have appeared in publications like Sunday Mid-day, Statesman, Debonair, Deshabhimani, Deepika and Mathribhumi ( all the three are major Malayalam newspapers), Sahara Time, Afternoon Despatch and Courier,Verdict, Organiser and By The Way magazine ( a lifestyle supplement of the high-circulation Gujarathi weekly Chitralekha). dancewithshadows.com, indiashowbiz.com,socialmantra.com and Chowk.com have also written about the book.
