Emily Cullen is a pen name. The three best words I use to describe myself are:  Mother, Wife, Sick.  I am a mom with chronic illness raising a child, and my personal blog, Mama Sick, http://www.mamasick.com, focuses on the challenges I face.  I wrote for Silicon Valley Moms Group and am happy to have found another collaborative blog where I can have a larger voice.   My purposes in writing my own blog are to let sick moms know that they are not the only ones going through this, but also to let well moms know what being a sick mom is like, and finding common ground. I spent seven years as a professional New Jersey on-air personality before beginning my eight-year career as a Recruiter/Headhunter. I remain somewhat active in the "entertainment biz," still doing voice-over work. My husband,"Grant" and I have been married since 2002 and have already experienced the "worse", "poorer", and "sickness" of marriage. We both suffer from chronic illnesses and diseases which have progressed. My diseases include Lupus, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue and other assorted goodies. In 2006 we were blessed with a little boy,"Tyler." We also share our home with two cats. No longer able to work, I am currently going through the disability process, waiting for a hearing date. I am also a member of the website and message boards of "But You Don't Look Sick."
