Melissa Brand, Psy.D., is mom, psychologist, teacher and writer… not necessarily in that order. The parent of a preschooler, graduate of the literature and writing program at Bard College, former educator of children with autism and a licensed, practicing child psychologist in Philadelphia, Dr. Brand has written numerous prevention, social skills, and advisory curricula for schools across the country. She also has designed and implemented school-based parent leadership programs, empowering parents to draw upon their own expertise and learn from each other. She has contributed to a number of websites including Technorati, From Left to Write, the NJ Moms Blog, The Smartly, and Equilibria Kids. Melissa posts weekly on her blog, Life with Sophia, where she exposes and reflects on her parenting practices in an effort to resonate with and reassure parents everywhere.
