Believing that “mediocrity does not lead to success,” Steve is sought after to drive immediate as well as long-term results and to objectively address issues that are barriers to action. He possesses a results orientation, and is enthusiastic about being the best and always doing the right thing. Steve ensures decisions have both a strong strategic rationale as well as a financial one. As evidenced by his roles over time at SecureState www.securestate.com, Steve can be a leader regardless of title. As part of the team, he has a "can do, get it done" attitude, building consensus and working toward agreed upon goals. While he mainly works at the higher levels, he is not afraid to roll up his sleeves and get dirty. Steve prides himself on knowing what people need to do and getting them to do it. He has built trust by helping (sometimes pushing) others to make a decision that is in their own best interest. Steve truly wants you to be successful, and busts his tail to help get you there. People look to Steve during times of uncertainty and unfamiliarity, and find reassurance and security in his confidence and purposeful manner. Enterprise Risk Management (and aligning security risk with it) is an area that many executives and boards of directors are struggling with. With an analytical mind, Steve observes that, even when equipped with information, executives typically are challenged with knowing what actions to take. Steve assists by giving clear direction, communicating clearly and concisely, and putting complex thoughts into layman’s terms. With his consulting and risk management experience, he progressed from possessing minimal direct security knowledge to being counted on as an expert in the field. He has presented at various security seminars and has been quoted in such magazines as: Banking Info Security, AutomationWorld, ModernEconomics, and Government IT. Steve also built the partner program from scratch to becoming the national assessment firm for one of the biggest telecom companies in the country, the largest IBM reseller in the country, and various other national partnerships. Steve has more than 15 years of experience in multiple aspects of information systems, sales, management, and advisory services. Prior to joining SecureState in 2005, he spent time in the consulting industry, working with Ernst & Young, the software industry with CA and Oracle, and the insurance industry with Willis Corroon. Steve also worked with various start-ups where he developed business plans for new ventures, performed growth analyses, and led and advised on meetings with venture capitalists, angel investors, and potential acquiring companies. Steve obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Communications and Statistics at the University of Michigan. He later earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Case Western Reserve University
