Chad's practice focuses on technology transactions, copyright counseling, cyberlaw, open-source licensing, and new media. Chad spent six years as a software engineer for IBM and several startups developing chip testing software, advanced Linux firewalls and internet traffic routing technologies prior to attending law school. Chad has both in-house and law firm experience having served as an associate for four years in the IP Licensing/Technology Transaction Group of Fenwick & West LLP in San Francisco and more recently as Senior Licensing Counsel for Dolby Laboratories in San Francisco. Chad has a special interest in copyright law and open-source issues and has authored or co-authored articles on topics such as digital rights management, website immunity and new media licensing in The Cyberspace Lawyer, The Privacy & Data Protection Legal Reporter and the Daily Journal. Chad received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Clarkson University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Colorado School of Law. Chad is admitted to practice in California, and is a member of the San Francisco Bar Association.
