A Glimpse At Life If SOPA Passes

A giant file sharing site, Megupload, was shut down as police in New Zealand raided the homes and businesses linked to its founder. US authorities seized guns, $5 million dollars in luxury cars, millions of dollars and weapons. Founder, Kim Dotcom and three other Megaupload employees were arrested by accusations from the U.S. stating that they expedited and assisted in millions of illegal downloads of music, films, and other forms of piracy. A total of seven people were arrested for running a international criminal enterprise.
The reaction to such actions resulted in the subsequent shut down of the MPAA, RIAA, and Department of Justice websites by Lifehacker
The group "Anonymous," a hactivist group, claimed credit for the website takedowns in support of the antipiracy legislation. "Operation Payback," which it is now named, facilitated the dismantling of such giant corporation's websites such as Recording Industry of America, the Motion Picture Association of America and Universal Music.
On Thursday, a spokeswoman for the Justice Department said the web server hosting justice.gov “is currently experiencing a significant increase in activity, resulting in a degradation in service."
"In a world where govts [sic] just keep on pushing their malicious agendas, we're no longer ready to play nice. We do not forgive!" said a post from one of Anonymous' Twitter handles.
Several other reports of Anonymous attacks were reported to include Broadcast Music and the U.S. Copyright office utilizing a Low Orbit Ion Cannon
